The course has closed and the clock is ticking on an aggressive, three-month greens-renovation project overseen by Lohmann Golf Designs at Jefferson City Country Club in Missouri.
The Greater Kansas City Golf Classic has announced that proceeds from the 2006 Champions Tour event will benefit three local organizations – The First Tee/Junior Golf Foundation of Greater Kansas City, First Hand Foundation, and the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. The tournament is managed by The Pride of Kansas City Foundation, and the organization has distributed over $900,000 to Kansas City-based charities in the past three years. This year's event will be held June 26 - July 2, 2006 at The Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in Overland Park, Kan.
Golf course architect Rick Jacobson has broken ground on the first phase of a 27-hole golf facility. The course will serve as the focal point of a new upscale residential community in suburban Kansas City, Mo.
The owner of 193 acres near the town of Marilla, Mo., is planning to convert his property into an 18-hole golf course. Daniel Handy is the owner of the land, located on Stolle Road, at the end of Eldridge Road. If all goes well, residents in the “Southtowns” area of Missouri will have an upscale public course to play by spring 2006.
