VGA Offers 2-for-1 Golf & Ski Cards for 2007

The Vermont Golf Association Scholarship Fund, in conjunction with the Vermont Golf Association, introduces 2-for-1 Golf and Ski Discount Cards. Each card provides the cardholder and guest to two-for-one discounts on skiing and golfing at six ski areas and 14 golf courses in Vermont and New Hampshire. The cards sell for $35 each and are valid for the entire 2007 calendar year. Proceeds from the sale of the cards benefit the Vermont Golf Association Scholarship Fund.
Participating ski areas include: Ascutney Mountain Resort, Jay Peak Resort, Ragged Mountain Resort, Magic Mountain Ski Area, Middlebury College Snow Bowl, and Suicide Six Ski Area. Golf courses include: Alburg Golf Links, Brattleboro Country Club, Champlain Country Club, Crown Point Country Club, Jay Peak Golf Course, Green Mountain National, Lake St. Catherine Country Club, Neshobe Golf Course, Proctor-Pittsford Country Club, Ragged Mountain Golf Course, Ralph Myhre Golf Course, Rutland Country Club, St. Johnsbury Country Club, and Woodstock Country Club.
Proceeds from Vermont Golf Association tournaments, membership fees from 68 member clubs, sales of the 2-for-1 Golf and Ski Discount Cards, donations from the Vermont Golf Association (VGA), Vermont State Women's Golf Association (VSWGA), the Vermont Golf Course Superintendent's Association (VGCSA), the Vermont Senior Golf Association, and individual donors support the Vermont Golf Association's Scholarship Fund. Since its inception in 1963, the VGA Scholarship Fund has provided more than $800,000 in scholarships to more than 300 Vermont and nearby New York and New Hampshire high school graduates.
Students are selected through a formal application and interview process. Eligible students must be graduating from Vermont, New York (Granville), or New Hampshire (Lebanon) high schools, academically achieve in the top 40 percent of their class, have a strong connection to golf, and exhibit financial need. In 2006, the Vermont Scholarship Fund is providing $40,000 in scholarships to 40 college students residing in Vermont.
