Six-Year-Old Receives Dennis Walters Courage Award

Six-year-old Kyle Lograsso was presented the Dennis Walters Courage Award last week at the 18th Annual ING Spring Conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Atlantic City. The award was given May 28, Kyle's sixth birthday.
The award is presented to an individual who has overcome great odds to participate in, and contribute to, the game of golf. The young Lograsso certainly fits that description, both in his play and in his perserverance. As a baby, Kyle was diagnosed with Retinalblastoma, a rare form of cancer, in both eyes. Kyle underwent five months of chemotherapy; and today, has vision in only one eye.
Interestingly, this golf prodigy has never taken golf lessons, nor does anyone in his family play the game. Yet, by watching golf on TV, he has mastered a swing that on video resembles that of Tiger Woods. He has already developed into an excellent ball striker.
"I learned it on TV," says Kyle, who began watching a four-day golf tournament on The Golf Channel when he was 18-months old. From then on, he was hooked on the game of golf and taught himself to play.
