Golf Development Coming to Washington Coast

In late May, the company behind a golf and residential community on Washington’s Pacific coast selected KemperSports to manage the development.
Lanco, LLC, the developer of Westport by the Sea, hired KemperSports to run the lodging and food and beverage facilities within the Westport, Wash., project, which is located less than three hours from both Seattle and Portland. The Northbrook, Ill.-based management company will also assist with the development of a proposed Rick Robbins-designed golf course, as well as a resort with a hotel and convention center.
Situated beside a beach, bay and marina, the development currently has nearly 200 condominium units. KemperSports will operate the units, which are in a rental program, in addition to three restaurants, two hotels and several planned golf courses.
"This development is surrounded by potential, and we are excited that KemperSports shares our vision to make the community of Westport a world-class resort destination," said developer Chuck Maples. “We have a solid foundation on which to build.”
According to Maples, future plans include the construction of as many as four golf courses, more luxury condominiums and commercial retail space. Westport, a long-time fishing village on the southwest Washington coast, offers recreational activities like surfing, deep-sea fishing and whale watching.
“Westport comprises the capabilities and natural elements to be the next great oceanside destination resort community in the Pacific Northwest,” added Steve Skinner, president of KemperSports. “We are thrilled to be involved and to work with Chuck Maples and his team to build on the momentum and buzz that have already been generated by this development.”
