Favre to Play in Tahoe's American Century Championship

Brett Favre has signed on to play in the 19th annual American Century Championship, celebrity golf's biggest tournament, July 8-13 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.
The recently retired Green Bay Packers quarterback has amped-up the tournament’s superstar power, joining Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Tony Romo, Ray Romano, Dale Jarrett, John Elway, Ben Roethlisberger, Jerry Rice, Michael Strahan, and Aidan Quinn in the field of 78 celebrities vying for $600,000 in prize money and raising funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Favre’s anticipated successor as Green Bay quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, is also in the field. A complete player’s list is available at: www.TahoeCelebrityGolf.com.
Favre, one of football's most popular and durable players and a future lock for the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, is making his inaugural appearance at the event, which is televised nationally by NBC Sports.
Favre holds a number of NFL records - including most career touchdown passes (442), most career passing yards (61,655), most career pass completions (5,377), most career pass attempts (8,758), most consecutive starts among quarterbacks (275) and most career victories as a starting QB (160).
A single-digit handicapper, Favre will trade in the pads and stadiums of 60,000 screaming fans for the spectacular setting of Edgewood Tahoe and 30,000 cheering golf and celebrity-seeking enthusiasts. "Having a popular player such as Brett Farve at this event, and so soon after his final season, has us printing additional tickets," said Sue Barton, Deputy Director of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority.
South Shore Lake Tahoe will be the hangout for celebrity sightings, parties and superstar entertainment throughout the week. The increased participation of entertainment luminaries and hot, new personalities and athletes has tournament buzz starting early.
Tickets are available daily at the gate. Prices are $15 each day for the Lake Tahoe Celebrity-Amateur on Tuesday, July 8, the practice round on Wednesday, July 9, and for the American Century Celebrity-Am on Thursday, July 10, and $25 for each tournament round, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A Season Pass for $60 provides admission for all six days of the event. Advance online ticket purchases prior to June 15 receive a $5 discount on daily tickets. Kids 10 and under are free with a paid adult. For tournament tickets, information and lodging packages, visit: www.BlueLakeTahoe.com.
