Aloha Team Classic Set for October in Maui |
Prior to the start of the Aloha Team Classic there will be an optional day of golf. This special "Play with the Pros" event will be held on Tuesday morning, October 21st at the King Kamehameha Golf Club (http://www.kamehamehagolf.com), a private club on Maui. The day will include continental breakfast, an18-hole pro-am (four amateurs and an LPGA Tour professional) and lunch. The following LPGA pros have committed: Kristy McPherson, Janice Moodie, Wendy Doolan, Meredith Duncan, Jamie Hullet, Mhairi McKay, Angela Jerman and Jeanne Cho-Hunicke. Other players will be added to the list.
This is a unique opportunity to play King Kamehameha with an LPGA player. The course is not open to the public and most visitors can't play this great course or visit its Frank Lloyd Wright-designed clubhouse. This special event will be available to 40 players based on when they register for the Aloha Team Classic, so sign up early.
This year's Aloha Team Classic will start with the Sunset Welcome Reception & Dinner. This is an opportunity to meet all the 2008 players, non-players, Foundation volunteers as well as all of the LPGA players that took part in the "Play with the Pro" earlier in the day.
The first day of the three-day amateur tournament will begin on the Kahili Golf Course (http://www.kahiligolf.com/golf/proto/kahiligolf) on Wednesday, October 22nd. Overlooking Maui's central, Kahili's course will test participants' skills. Continental breakfast will be available prior to the shotgun start. The awards lunch will be served in the Kahili Club House after the round.

The third and final day on Friday, October 24th, will take place on Kapalua Resort's Plantation Course (http://www.kapalua.com/hawaii-golf/plantation-golf-course.php), a venue known as the home of the Mercedes-Benz Championship, the PGA Tour's first tournament of the year. With significant elevation changes and views of Maui Channel and Moloka'I, the course affords a tough and scenic challenge. Continental breakfast will be available prior to the shotgun start and the awards lunch will take place in the Plantation House Restaurant after the round.
The finale of the Aloha Team Classic - 2008 will be the Dinner/Dance at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua on Friday evening, October 24th. Dancing and entertainment will be provided by Jimmy Mac and the Kool Kats. The Foundation will also have a couple of surprises for the participants that evening. Individuals wishing to register for the Aloha Team Classic should call 800/541-7357. The cost to participate in this year's event is $1,350 for each player and $375 for each non-player. The cost to participate in the "Play with the Pros" is $550 per player. (Registration for the "Play with the Pros" will be limited to the first 40 amateurs based on the sequence that players register for the Aloha Team Classic - 2008.)

In addition to Beyond the Rainbow Foundation, the golf tournament supports Lahaina Complex after School Enrichment Tutor Project, which provides intensive instruction in reading, speaking, thinking, writing, math and social studies to approximately 260 students in grades 3 through 11 in four Lahaina public schools; the Maui Farm, which offers residential programs for youth at risk, including an independent living program for foster youth and former foster youth ages 17 to 21; and the Boys & Girls Club of Maui.
